At Stepping Stone, we believe in a holistic approach to recovery, and understand that physical and mental health are intrinsically linked.

We know that due to the effects of psychiatric medication, symptoms of mental illness, and associated low motivation levels, a high number of people with mental health issues also experience physical health issues due to weigh gain. As a result, the members and staff at Stepping Stone have developed a Healthy Active Living Program (HALP), focussing on encouraging a healthy lifestyle for our members which includes opportunities for fitness, healthy eating, increased well being, and most importantly, fun.

We offer a range of activities for all levels of fitness.  These activities include:

Daily

Lunchtime Meditation
Lunchtime Walk

Monday

4:45 – 5:30 Yoga (free)

Tuesday

4:30 – 6:15 Gym session at HELFI Gym, Woolloongabba $5.00

Thursday

4:30 – 6:30 walk at Kangaroo Point and New Farm Park

Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Lunchtime Sports – this rotates between soccer, touch football, frisbee and any other activities our members are interested in! (includes swimming when weather permits!)

But wait, there is more..

We are  running a programs called “Steps around the World” where members wear pedometers (purchase for $3) and together each week we record our steps walked each day. We have over 30 people actively participating, and we have reached our targets of ‘walking’ to Perth, and we are now ‘walking’ to the first Clubhouse in New York. We are 40% of the way and would love for others to get involved.

We know that diet is just as important as exercise.  That is why our lunchtime meal consists of a freshly prepared cooked meal, or a delicious salad buffet, and our café offers fresh fruit, yoghurt, nuts, muesli and other healthy snacks should you feel hungry throughout the day.
